Default D15B block with D17A tranny

Hi all greetings am new ere, just have a quick question. Does the D15B engine perform worst, the same or better with the D17 tranny. Reason being i have a 02 EU1 civic with a D15B engine however the tranny seems to be going dead so am thinking about replacing it with a D17A tranny as the D15B non cvt tranny is very hard to get. Any help plz

Are you asking if a D17A 5-Speed manual transmission would perform better than the D15B automatic transmission ?
