Its a 98 civic automatic sedan, 1.5 gasoline.

I recently have started hearing a high pitched squeaking noise when turning the wheel (only about half a round either way) AND the same noise occurs when coming to a dead stop and at the beginning of acceleration.

What Ive done so far:
1. Checked the steering fluid - close to full.
2. Checked the springs - Ive heard these break before and they usually sound different.
3. I have a worn out axle joint which needs replacement, but it makes a diffefent sort of clucking sound.

Dont want to take it to a mechanic yet, since Im trying to figure out if I could fix the issue myself.

Any ideas would be welcome.

My guess would be a pulley or a loose belt.

Can you have someone look inside the engine bay while turning the wheel to help?

Perhaps a recording might also be help to see and hear.

 

I also noticed that about 5 min after turning the engine off and turning the wheel slightly, it didnt make any noises.

In the video the engine is running and the gear is in park mode and Im slightly turning the wheel.
