Default ‘99 Civic LX engine advice

Howdy there guys, after being a lurker of the forum and browsing several topics on Civics, I’ve finally decided to try and ask a question.

I’ve got a 1999 Honda Civic LX with a D16Y7 that’s got a hole in the block. I’m relatively new to mechanics and I’m not too car savvy.. having said that, what would be my best choice of a replacement engine? Should I just drop another D16Y7 into it?

As for some background on the car, it’s only had 3 owners with me being the most owner. It’s an automatic as well, so I’d prefer if I can keep the vehicle automatic.

Just my opinion but I would just go back with the same motor. They are not expensive and would also be less work to install and wiring would be the same.

Appreciate the response. I was honestly thinking about just doing that from the start but upon looking for another D16Y7 my searches aren’t turning up very good. I’ve found a couple on eBay but they’re sitting at anywhere between 150xxx to 200xxx. I know I shouldn’t be too picky on an engine but I don’t want to put out $$ towards an engine with a lot of mileage on it already. Is there any JDM options I could go with? If needed.
