B18c1 honing grit 180 or 240

Default B18c1 honing grit 180 or 240

Hi im in the middle of building my motor and I was woundering what grit you guys are useing when honeing a b18c1 block flex ball hone 240 or 180. I usually use 180 grit but everybody seems to be out of 180

I am not recommending a flex ball hone, but the finer grit is better for a Honda block. If you look at the process the factory outlines in the FSM, you will see that the hone is very fine and plateaued appropriately to create very shallow witness marks. A coarse hone and low tension oil rings are a bad match... a recipe for burning oil.
