Hey I’m new to this forum but any and all comments are helpful so feel free. I am about to drop a completely rebuilt D-16 with turbo into a 2001 prelude. I’ve never done anything like this and have limited knowledge of Honda’s. I know this will **** some of you off thinking I have no business taking on something like this with my limited knowledge but you all started somewhere so please help me make this dream a reality! My question is what do I need to change in the prelude to accommodate the D-16?
If serious though, to answer the question; you need to change all the things. Everything. Literally everything. And nearly all of it will need to be custom made. Mounts, harness, axles, exhaust, shift linkage, shifter bracket, throttle cable, clutch pedal, clutch master, clutch slave, transmission gears/ratios, and more.
...all to end up with a motor that even with boost still has less torque than the stock motor that originally came in the car.
Update I pulled the motor apart it’s not as bad as the previous owner stated. I drained and flushed all the fluids, pulled the motor apart. Cleaned everything I could find. found the leaking hose in the power steering Pump, clutch needs to be replaced but it runs like new now. It’s still a long road ahead. I’ve purchased a turbo, a fuel delivery system I have to find an intercooler and piping, stage 3 clutch. I think that’s everything I’ll need to reach my hp goal and still have a bullet proof motor. The D-16 is for sale it’s on Kijiji and fb marketplace if anyone is interested.
