Default honda fan switch 1983 civic 1.5 L

i have a 1983 Honda civic with a 1500 1.5L
i have noticed when the fan switch gets wet the automatic fan will not turn on. i have installed a new fan switch and the fan works like new but if any water gets on the switch the fan will not come on . i will post a pick of the fan switch type with two prongs.
I think the two wires going to switch get wet and not longer make contact. the switch is mounted very low on the car which makes it easy for water to get on it.
anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this issue?

You might be able to get away with just throwing some dielectric grease on the connectors. Otherwise, see if you can't use some heat shrink wrap to insulate the wire ends so it's more water tight.
