Default Clunk & rattle after rear shock install

Hi there

Just installed my rear shocks on my 2007 civic sedan lx. Monroe Matic shocks from rockauto. Shock install went fine but now I hear this annoying rattle when going over bumps. Could it be my rear lca bushing? Anyone know what this is?

Could be the rear lca. Could be your strut tower nut isn't tightened down all the way. I would check the nut first, as that is pretty easy. I believe torque spec for the LX is 33 ft.lb. Not 100% sure though

The aftermarket shocks I used on the rear came with a normal nut, not a locking nut like the oem. I doubled the nuts on the strut tower with two normal nuts as opposed to a lock nut. Could this cause the clunking ?

End links have never been changed and going on 270k

Did it come with bushings for the top of the rear strut tower?

Yes it did
those were installed when I put them on. Seems like the noise started after I got them on but I doubt double nut vs lock nut would cause it

I doubt that too. Check the torque on that top strut nut, tighten it and then go for a drive. Check the tightness after the drive. It may have to be switched to a locking nut.
