anyone know if necessary to replace both front bearings if only drivers side is making noise?

 

No you don't have to do both sides. Just be sure you have the right side!

Not at all. If there is nothing wrong with the bearings on the other side, leave it alone. Someone might tell you to just do it since you are already working on one side, but I wouldn't waste the time unless needed. Unlike say a tire that slowly shrinks and so you can't have mismatched tires, bearings are either working or getting destroyed, so an old on on one side and new on on the other is fine.

I disagree. I always recommend replacing wheel bearings in pairs. Do the whole job the right way and forget about it.
