Default Why wont the comp stage 4 clutch fit

Hi guys, so i have a b18a1 motor swap out of a 1992 acura integra ls that i swapped into a 98 civic hatchback. I ordered the competition stage 4 clutch kit for b series and the first snag i ran into was the throw out bearing was a different size and style. The two wings on the back did not have any holes in them for the springs in the throw out bearing slot to be entered, but instead had tabs there in place. The throw out bearing was too big to fit in there but onltyby the wings. Then the clutch alignment tool would not fit into the pilot bearing (too big). so then I finally realized that the pressure plate would not fit onto the flywheel. The pins next to the 6 bolt holes on the flywheel were too big too fit into the holes onto the pressure plate and also the pressure plate bolt holes were spaced on just a little too much to line up and bolt in (maybe a 1/4 inch). Is there a difference in the clutch for the 92 transmission instead of the one i bought? i messaged the company but wanted to post here too to see what you guys thought could be going on.

What is the part number of the clutch kit that you bought ?

Assuming that you do in fact have a '92-93 YS1 cable transmission from a B18A1 Integra, the only difference between the clutch kit designed for it and one designed for a '94+ Integra hydro transmission would be the throw-out bearing. The clutch disc, pressure plate and pilot bearing, along with the alignment tool... would be the same. So, since you are describing fitment issues with the alignment tool and the pressure plate, I suspect there is more to this problem than meets the eye.

I ordered the competition stage 4 kit 8014-1620 and I believe that I need the 8017-1620 kit instead. I do not have the other kit right in front of me to see if the kit is different but their website says that is the kit I need... idk

why I didn’t research that before ordering. I will try and post a picture to show the difference between the pressure plate I took off and the new one, the bolt holes are diffferent. Essentially if I can get the right pressure plate, and an alignment tool with a smaller pilot bearing end then I would be golden.

Although the website doesn't show it, the proper part number for a kit that fits a '92 YS1 cable transmission and a B18A1 block would be the 8027-1620. The website only shows up to a Stage 3 level, which would be a 8027-2600. The 8014-1620 is for an Accord/Prelude... "F" or "H" series transmissions and this is why the diameter of the pressure plate is slightly larger than your "B" series one. The 8017-1620 is for the small spline (1990-91) Integra cable transmissions or JDM cable transmissions... this is not what you need either.

There may not be a "Stage 4" kit available for your application... contact Competition Clutch to verify that the part number I gave you is available. (Part # 8027-1620). If not, you may have to settle for the "Stage 3" kit part number of 8027-2600... or select another manufacturer to get the level of power handling that you need.

Thanks for the reply. How are you sure which transmission I have? I can attach some photos to try and help with verification but I will say that my tranny main shaft had 24 splines instead of 26 which is noted to be what the “bigger” one would have. I thought I had narrowed it down to the 8017-1620 comp clutch kit but don’t want to order that one and the splines be wrong.

I don't know... but I trusted what you said. All I can go by is the information that you give.

If that is correct, then you don't have a '92 B18A1 swap... the transmission is different from the engine. Are there any markings on the transmission ? To be sure, I would acquire a small spline clutch disc (from a trusted source... maybe even an auto parts store if you have to spend money), and try and slide it on to your transmission's input shaft. IF it goes, you have an early ('90-91) transmission and thus, you would need the 8017-1620 kit. IF it won't slide over the input shaft, then you know it is in fact a '92-93 large spline cable transmission and that part number is 8027-1620 (if you can get it).
