'87 Civic Woes, ignition? Please give advice.
Hey guys, need some real help here, my buddies '87 Civic Hatch was overheating so he pulled off the road, found it was low on coolant, but only started to over heat a little, let it cool down then tried to restart it and nothing, there is a small click noise under the hood when it is open, sounds like a relay on the firewall, not the starter solenoid, no starter response of any kind. Then we tried to Roll Start and he fully engaged the clutch going down a hill and the thing just free wheel's motor just keeps spinning without starting.
So Basically the Starter solenoid isn't getting juice, and the ignitino system isn't firing, all fuses are good, Starter was just tested and is good, Alternator is good, Battery is good, (not that either of those would cause this, but tested for good measure) and all other electronics on the car works, lights, stereo, etc.
Please if anyone has any ideas, let me know, he is getting desperate here.

It's not the starter motor. Otherwise, it would start when you push started it. My guess is check the plugs, then check the fuel rail to make sure that it has fuel. (Unless it is a carb motor)
Test for spark. The engine was just turning while in gear down a hill? I would test for power. Its got to be a commong source for both if you have no spark. Back probe the starter circuit until you find power. Main relay?
