D16Z6 Turbocharger Oil Pressure Verification Question
Freshly built d16z6.
Autometer oil pressure gauge w/ nylon tubing fed from oil sandwhich plate
gt3582 fed from -4an coming off sandwhich plate
Cold idle 85-90psi
Warm idle 18-20psi
I haven't drove the car yet but are these numbers good for oil pressure at idle? 800-1000rpm

Ok, now we're getting some data! The pressure cold is a bit on the high side but I can imagine Canadian wintertime can leave oil like molasses. Lol! Warm idle looks good, and should see around 75 or so at 3k rpm, usually around 90ish at WOT.
Looks pretty normal to me , if it gets much lower I would use a thicker oil. I suggest 10w-30 usually on a factory clearance motor unless your in a very hot environment

My cold idle is similar to yours (also turbo D16Z6). My fully warmed idle is around 15 psi in the cooler months. Last summer was hot (southern US) and my fully warmed idle would be down as low as 8 psi sometimes. I am currently running 10W-30 full synthetic and my bearing clearances are around 0.0016". I may try some 20W-50 in the heat of the summer to see if it improves my warm idle oil pressure.
so I guess that may be my reason for higher pressure on cold idle. Thanks for all the help, just wanted to make sure my pressure was good!
