94 eg euro r idle and start up issue
hey H.T. i have a 94 cx hatch with a 2000 euro r and i am having start up issues with the car. I do have a cel but it is from not having an o2 sensor, the cel doesn't come on immediately. The car runs strong once it is warm and up to temp, but when i start the car, especially if it is cold outside i have to pedal the throttle or it will die immediately, Once the car is up to temp it will idle anywhere between 500 to 1k rpm, and it does have a small surging idle sometimes, it doesn't always happen though.. I have adjusted the throttle cable and have it in the "best spot" that i have found thus far. The car is not running an evap system, so i am missing the vacuum line from the rear of the euro r intake manifold, but from what i have seen, that shouldn't cause any idle issues. Is that correct from your experience?
I am thinking it has something to do with the IAC. I am currently running a 2 wire IAC, but the person who did the swap before i bought the car, has the IAC not attatched to the rear of the IM and it is currently just hanging below the IM....
. There is a 3 wire IAC currently on the rear of the IM to block that port, i guess is what you would call it. I scrounged through the forums last night and found that BLACKTRAX makes an adapter plate to be able to run a 2 wire IAC on the IM. I went ahead and bought it and it should be here in a couple of weeks. Do you think this will help my start up and idle issues if i attatch this plate and put the IAC on the rear of IM where it is supposed to be? any help would be greatly appreciated. I have cleaned the IAC and have also adjusted the throttle, i am going to clean the throttle body this weekend, but other than that, im not sure what else to look for. Could there be a vacuum leak somewhere? I thought that would throw a code... but im not 100% on that. You guys rock, and have helped me in the past. Thanks HT!
In case you need to know, the car is running a p72-a01 ecu.
