Wideband AFR reading above steering wheel? I'm trying to find best option
I want to run PLX AFR reading. But what I want is a rectangle box setup to sit above the steering wheel so it will be in best view of me. So is it possible to use the PLX Wideband sensor module to get the PLX accuracy https://www.plxdevices.com/ProductDe...e=897346002726 but then use a stand alone AFR reading device? What I'm looking for is something like Lightningteg has below.
Pretty sure you can use just about any gauge configuration with your controller, as long as you have the appropriate wiring (which I'm again sure is available) lol
The rectangle part may be hard, as the PLX multi gauge is round. That said, it has a bunch of configurations, and the digital readout works well. The gauge is very slim, under 1/2" thick, so it doesn't need a ton of space.
I like that idea but when %*&! gets real I want the AFR readouts close by the tach so I can see danger at a glance. I guess I will put boost gauge and oil pressure where the factory clock goes (even though I don't really want to lose the clock). I'm still thinking of my gauge layout. I like the gauge shroud dual pods but I don't want my temp and gas gauge view obstructed.
not sure of your engine management but have you considered hooking the wideband up to your ecu and enabling lean protection? I know that doesn't address your concern of being able to see it easily but would maybe give you a safe piece of mind still.
I'll be using S300, not sure if that's an option or not but if so that sounds pretty ideal. Does it cut fuel or spark?

That's extremely dangerous. Figure an already lean state during a pull, the ECU realizes this, and then cuts even more fuel. Ford's traction control functioned this way as well and I always have had a problem with it.
I can’t help you on the little LED readout for your wideband, which please post what you come up with. As I’m interested as well.
but that Hondata lean protection, I looked into it. It will shut the car down similar to a boost cut. I don’t know how exactly is does it. But I’m pretty confident it doesn’t just kill your fuel. I think it will shut both systems down. From what I’ve read it’s similar to how it shuts down on the boost cuts. So how ever they pull that off, I think it would be neat to have. Neptune doesn’t have it, or I would have had it on mine. It looks like a neat feature though.

Yeah sorry I’m not sure if it cuts just fuel or how it operates but having hit it and my boost cut before I will say they feel the same.

But wherever you feel is best is ultimately your best decision.
Ok. I personally don't use one in my cars because I know that 1) that's one more gauge to read while I'm driving, and I have BIG gauges for the other more immediate issues 2) My tuner is the main one that uses it, as there's nothing more than I can do but shut the engine down fast enough and Hope I didn't ruin anything, (which after 18 years, I worried more about my oil lines disconnecting and dropping pressure than any AFR readings.)
But wherever you feel is best is ultimately your best decision.

I do not want a cockpit full of gauges, and I'm really struggling on the best placement of gauges. As 90's as it might be, the A pillar might be my best option. I think AFR, Boost, and Oil pressure are probably my biggest benefits.
I originally wanted ANYTHING but the A-pillar gauges, but in the end that's what I ended up doing. It's convenient, not overly distracting, and ricer as hell, lol.
