Zoomer 6500rpm cut
Hi all,
I have an ‘02 zoomer/ruckus that feels like it’s rev cutting at around 6500-6800, if I roll off the throttle I can just get it to creep up to higher rpm.
Bike is standard apart from:
Progress Racing CDI (although tried disconnecting and exactly the same just running off the factory CDI)
Kitaco variator with ~6g weights
Rebuilt carb with 85 main jet
Cheap inductive tachometer
I have tried the basic stuff, new fuel filter and pump, new air filter, new plug and coil.
And with the 85 main it doesn’t look like it’s leaning out after doing a plug chop.
The problem is the same under load or up on the centre stand.
Any advice from anyone who has had a similar issue would be great!

have you had a valve adjustment lately? you might not be getting enough valve clearance. You can also do a compression test. I am shooting in the dark at this one so ignore me if you think i'm leading you in the wrong direction.
