Icon5 transmission issues thud and high pitched grinding97 civic ex sedan

hello, all first time asking on the site. I have started to notice my 97 civic ex sedan has had high-pitched noise when shifting from neutral to drive, and slightly quieter noise from park to reverse 223,000 miles I believe trans was rebuilt at 108,000. the car seems sluggish not quite the pep it used to have diving up hills I can keep it moving but it will get up to about 5grand and I lift my foot to let it shift to final gear and it won't until it gets to the top of the hill and when it downshifts it is like its slamming into the lower gear. the only thing I have done to it is aem cold air intake, coilovers just did the head gasket 0 warpage 0 bent valves even took it to the machine shop they said it looks damn near new. fluids are good. hope that is enough info I am about at my wits end with the turd bucket (the name my civic goes by) if it weren't for my son I would have gotten rid of it months ago. he freaking loves that car and only 5yrs old thanks again I really hope I provided the proper info

No not a single one. It's already like I have the e brake on. Car had over 234,000 miles but trans was rebuilt at 108,000

What does "fluids are good" mean?

Is the e-brake on? In other words... are brake pads dragging significantly? Also, when you checked AT fluid level how did you do it... what procedure?

If you have no record of the ATF being replaced, assume that it is ancient.

Start by draining the ATF and replacing it with Castro Multi-vehicle ATF for Imports. Then, with engine idling, slowly move the transmission through all gears.

Do minimally three ATF drain-refill cycles.

I have followed the service manual on how to check. I head all fluids flushed and replaced from the dealership jujitsu after I got the car about a year and a half ago.

Do multiple ATF drain-refill cycles as I mentioned, and hope for the best.

Alternatively, replace the current transmission with a known-good used transmission.
