Default Buying used Pilot

Hi All.

I am about to buy a used 2010 pilot ex-l w/ res, 4wd with 103k miles(dark grey/grey leather). The carfax is a clean no accident 2 owner with 36 service records. Within the last 10k miles the rear shock absorbers, Timing belt, water pump, and spark plugs have been replaced along with new tires and brakes.

The dealer was asking 13k plus fees and taxes which made it just shy of 14k. I have got them down to $12,500 OTD but really grinding for $12k. Is this a good deal? Is there anything specifically I should be concerned with or look out for?

I bought a 2004 Honda Pilot EX-L with 190,000 miles several months ago and I just love the SUV. It drives GREAT and I only need to carry liability insurance as the vehicle cost me only a couple thousand dollars so any accident would be a junk it wash. The important thing to me in your potential purchase is that the timing belt was recently changed. However, the price range you quoted seems very high to me as I would expect something more in $11.5K or lower to as low about $10.5k from a dealer. Check Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds and see what like cars are selling for in your area via CarGuru, AutoTrader or something like that. Just sayin'

Wife has a 2012 Touring 2wd and was offered $10K by the dealer when we were looking at trading it. Newer with less miles than the one you are looking at. We walked away from that deal. Just presented for reference.

Paint sucks on these things - especially the Touring white. It flakes off. Honda repainted the roof of my wife's Pilot about a year ago, but refused to address the door when it started coming off later. Car is 8 years old so I sorta get it, but I'm more sore about the lack of quality in the paint the first time. So what I'm saying is to go over the paint very, very closely.
