I asked this in the diy thread but got no response , Anyone considered moving the stock cable driven climate control down to the cubby hole area the wires should be length wise long enough and plug in just as it would from the factory bezel just relocating it still retaining all the oem functions ? My ex came with the tape deck in that cubby slot , I know the 99/00 bezel will have non working buttons but could always rewire fog lights or whatever else you to the actual buttons but hell its better than going through all that heater core /dash removal/wiring just to have a double din you’ll still need the upper vent ducks from the 99/00 to fit the 99/00 bezel but that’s a lot easier to do than completely removing the dash

 

use the search function, there is a diy for this. I know because I did it back in 2011 ( I wasn't the first )

 

I have searched but on none of the forums or threads has anyone mentioned moving the location of the cable driven climate control box to the din above the cup holders

 

What is your reasoning for wanting to move the climate controls there ?

 

in order to have a double din head unit in a 96/98 civic u must use the 99/00 climate control bezel because the 99/00 civics are electronic climate controls a lot of things under the dAsh have to be converted over heater core blower box vents and then wiring , 96/98 is cable driven , I’m just thinking of a way to by pass all of that and still retain oem specs just in a different location
