Default 1997 Accord Power Steering Leak

Hello Everyone (, I am new here), great Forum. I own a 97 Accord with only 85K miles, recently I notice my Power Steering Reservoir was only 1/2 full and it seemed to be leaking. I checked the hoses and they looked good, we even disconnected a hose for a few, and the leak was gone. Today I realize the leak is coming from a very thin "tube like" pipe that comes out of the firewall, steering wheel area. I felt the pipe and can feel the whole, the liquid is more whitish cream color then the Honda Fluid, ( I am suspecting previous owner used the wrong fluid and it mixed like this)///my question, what is this pipe/hose called? What is it connect to? IN the picture it's the one under the hose, and parallel to the left one. thanks

Thank you

Are you talking about the rubber hose behind the one labeled 'return'? That can be a real pain to replace, with limited clearance, and I ended up getting hose pliers for harbor freight when I changed out mine.

The best way to figure out what hoses you need is to go to the link below (on Honda estore), select your car model, then select the category "chassis" and you will see three sub-categories related to the power steering: one says "P.S. Hoses-Pipes" which is where you'll find the rubber hose, one says "P.S. Gear Box" (ie. rack and pinion assembly) and one says "P.S. Gear Box Components" (for rebuilding the gear box). Follow the diagram to determine the name of the part you need along with the part number.

The metal pipe, you'll find in Gear Box components, but if yours is like mine, that rubber hose is likely shot.

Thanks Guys, here is the Update! It Is/was the Pressure Hose from Power Steering Pump, I didn't realize it bent like that off the Rack and Pinion (Thought it was 2 different hoses) anyway the bad news is, My Mechanic could remove that Bolt from the Rack and Pinion, it is seized on there and with the limited space it is impossible to apply any torque, I am this CLOSE to just replacing the Rack and Pinion....but I am wondering is it Possible to "hack: that connection? He has Cut off the head of bolt and all that remains is the rounded part of what's left....would I be able to saw that piece straight to the rack and pinion and then find a way to connect hose? with a coupler? or some type of metalic connector? (remember this is the thin Metal Part of the hose that connects to Rack...thanks

I've used a small pipe wrench to remove stuck tube nuts that have become seized on when I know I'm replacing the pipe. Is there nothing left to grasp? If you do have to remove the rack and pinion, you may be able to dremel out the remaining piece, taking care not to get bits of metal inside by aiming the hole downward, rather than replacing the whole thing, depending on condition. I'd probably use a little PS fluid while it's pointing downward to clear the threads. And with the rack and pinion off, you can replace the other lines on it. They look to be the same size as brake lines, but I didn't confirm that.
