Default Lots of questions about building my D16 Motor (Bottom End)

Hey Guys

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my D16 motor for boost. To be specific the bottom end is the D16Y5 bottom end, but from what I understand when it comes to the D16Y's they are the same when it comes to the bottom end(let me know if I'm incorrect here). So, I've done some research, but I still have some questions.

For the bottom end I plan on putting in these for rods and pistons. https://www.speedfactoryracing.net/s...a-piston-combo.
For bearings I plan on putting in ACL Race Bearings. Here is a link ACL Race Series Bearing Set (Main, Rod, Thrust) for the Honda D15, D16A, D16Z, & D16Y Engines
The sleeves will be stock.
Top end will be stock Y7 top end.
My HP goals will be ideally 350hp(probably asking for a lot lol), but I'd settle for 300hp if it keeps things reliable(Let me know what you guys think this setup can make reliably).

First questions have to do with oiling. From my research when it comes to the D16Y's oiling will be the main issue. The solutions I've heard are
1. Shim the oil pump to allow for better flow.
2. Have the machine shop drill larger holes into the main bearings to allow for better flow as well.
3. Get a Z6 crankshaft, and use that because it has two oil passages instead of one.

For oiling the questions I have are.
1. Instead of shimming is there an option to buy a performance oil pump? I've seen this https://www.speedfactoryracing.net/a...series-engines but I'm pretty sure that won't fit my block(If I'm wrong about this let me know)
2. If I get holes drilled into the bearings(even by a machine shop) what is the risk of the crankshaft getting damaged as a result, or getting the clearances messed up. I got this information from here The Old One - Energy Dynamics : Articles Are there bearings that are sold that have bigger holes in them already?
3. Will the Z6 crankshaft reduce my oil pressure? If it does will it cause major issues? Also where can I get one for cheap? I'm seeing them go for $300. Is that the typical price? Seems like a lot when I've seen complete blocks go for less then $100, but maybe that one is special lol.
4. Which of these options or combination of options will get me to safely for my HP goals? If shim the oil pump, and drill holes into the bearings would that be enough, etc?

Bearing Questions
5. When it comes to the main and rod bearings everyone says that you have to use the codes, and the colors to get the proper sizes for the bearings. So the size of the same type of bearing can differ inside the same bottom end. However these ACL Race Bearings that I want to buy only come in one size for the same type of bearing. If that's the case how are they safe to use? Here is a link ACL Race Series Bearing Set (Main, Rod, Thrust) for the Honda D15, D16A, D16Z, & D16Y Engines
6. When it comes to these ACL Race Bearings they also come in different sizes for the same type of bearing. Which size would I use in which situation lol. There is Standard Size, STD Size + 0.001 oil clearance, etc There must be a gap in my research since I don't know, but I'm not even sure what to search for I guess. Help here would be greatly appreciated.

Well that's it for now. Thanks for bearing with me...get it lol sorry couldn't help my self. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

For the bottom end I plan on putting in these for rods and pistons. https://www.speedfactoryracing.net/s...a-piston-combo. The Vitara-style cast pistons have been proven, but I would still recommend going with a forged piston and regular length rod if you're building for boost. I know the $470 price tag is attractive, but for just $400 more you can have a quality forged piston and regular length rod.

Here is a link ACL Race Series Bearing Set (Main, Rod, Thrust) for the Honda D15, D16A, D16Z, & D16Y Engines This is OK to do only after having your crankshaft measured to verify that the standard ACL bearings give you the correct clearances. The proper thing to do would be to have the crank and block measured, then buy bearings based on that. Using Honda OEM bearings allows you to dial in your clearances to precisely what you want/need.

You can have the oil pump ported if you want to get some more flow out of it.

4. Which of these options or combination of options will get me to safely for my HP goals? If shim the oil pump, and drill holes into the bearings would that be enough, etc? Personally I'd look for a Z6 or A6 crank out of the options you've listed. I wouldn't pay more than about $150 for a crank in good shape. Beware of buying online where you cannot inspect the crank in person and/or have a machine shop verify the condition of the crank before you buy. Do that at your own risk.
