91 headlights/corner lights on a 89
I'm pretty sure this has been covered plenty of times but can't find a definitive answer (if you can point me to the right post I'd appreciate it! First time posting here.. I've always just lerked..) I'm trying to swap a 91 hatch headlights and corner lights onto my 89. I have the headlights with the bucket/brackets. And I have the corner lights. What else would I need? Some people say the lights are a different shape, some say I need different fenders but I'm not sure 🤷♂️ if anyone can point me in the right direction please let me know!! Thanks.
Metal Fenders are the same for all years 88-91 for each individual model. So 88 civic fenders are same as 91 but civic fenders are different from crx or wagon. The mounting clips on the fenders for the corner lights are different between 88-89 (screw type) and 90-91 (slide in clips on corners). So corner lights can be put on any year fender for same model provided mounting clips are also used.
For the headlights, the mounting of the bracket is the same for all years as previously stated, however the 90-91 lights have moisture vents on the back so the headlights are not exactly the same but very close. My experience mostly comes from CRX and civic hatches, not so much the sedans and wagons so I’d defer to someone else with more knowledge on those models.
