I was going thru some boxes of EF parts that I recently acquired, and inside was this cluster.
At first glance I didn't think much of it, it just looks like a typical 88-89 cluster; but if you notice, the tach redline is 6800 rpm (as opposed to 6500) and the max mph is 150.
So I started googling, and I've come across several foreign market clusters with 150 mph (usually 155 mph) speedos, but those usually then have over 7000 rpm redlines, and they also have orange needles. I do tend to think this cluster is a foreign market part as the "55 mph" isn't called out and yellowed; as well as no "unleaded fuel only" warning by the tach.
Then if you flip it over, the back looks more like a 90-91 style cluster (see speedo screw hole locations, they match perfectly).
So here it is:
Questionable cluster on right; next to regular 90-91 cluster on bottom left; compared to regular 88-91 cluster top left
Markings on cluster in question:
Questionable cluster on bottom, 90-91 style in middle, 88-89 on top.
I guess I'm gonna try putting this in my 89 Hatch to see what happens; if it works then cool I'll keep it; if not then I'd like to get rid of it, but would like to know what it's from so I can list it appropriately.
