1996-2000 Honda civic Maximum Operating Voltage
Hi Guys need help can you let me know the Maximum operating Voltage I can run My 1999 Honda Civic ? DC Voltage ? I have a massive audio system and will like to Charge my newly added Lithium batteries at 15.4V dc? Can this work and will not affect my car electrical?
On my civic, new alternator installed.. The highest voltage I've seen is 14.1 or 14.2v when it's cold.. I think it was about 13.4-13.5 once warmed up. I'll have to check next time I drive the car. But 15.4v is way too high, the voltage regulator would have to be disabled or damaged for it to go that high. Any normal lead acid battery would get fried at that voltage. And the components have a range 15v or 16v is the max they could tolerate. Any massive audio system would be fine with a cap (for transient bursts) and a higher output alternator instead of trying to charge lithium batteries.
Thanks guys I have a High output alternator 320amp installed sorry did not mention its external regulated so I can adjust the voltage..but from what I gather is that the electrical components of the vehicle can handle between 15-16v?
Just need to know the safe operating voltage of the components?
I want to charge at 15.4 V
