Question: How hard is it to disconnect an aftermarket alarm on a 2000 Honda Accord?

About a week ago my 2000 Honda Accord would not start. My mechanic replaced a part that he called the "ignition switch."
It looked like the parts on this page: autozone.com/batteries-starting-and-charging/ignition-switch/honda/accord

My car has an aftermarket alarm system. My mechanic says that an aftermarket alarm system is prone to failure. He says if the alarm malfunctions it will cause the car not to start. He wants to charge $80 to disconnect the alarm.
