You do have a misfire. Blinking light does indicate possible damage to the cat. Start by replacing the cap, wires, plugs, and rotor(About the cheapest thing you can do at this point). While you have the plugs out, compression test it to see what your number are. Are the consistant? No? You have big issues. Yes? The you need to perform a leak-down test. Let us know what happens.
And if you're not familiar, you can get those CEL codes (or diagnostic trouble codes) pulled free at lots of autoparts stores. Call some places and ask if they do that. Whole process from phone calls to getting codes and posting them here would take minutes.
