Suggestions needed: 06 Civic DX -switching from key start to toggle switch/push butto
Hi I have a 2006 Civic dx and a few months ago someone tried stealing it and messed up the tumbler when they shoved a screwdriver in it and now it won't turn. I have been debating on getting a new one or changing the way it starts all together and decided on changing it
i want to change it to toogle switch starting and hide them in the little console below my vent by the driver's door but I'm a little unsure of how exactly
I want to do a momentary toogle switch and rocker switch and from what I have gathered online it hasn't been any help
Could u please help and let me know what wires I would connect to the momentary and which ones to the rocker switch.
If changing it would be the wrong thing to do then please let me know because I don't want to make it worse in the long run
the car means a lot to me cause of my grandma helping me buy it so if I would be messing up by changing it please let me know
any and all advice is welcome and appreciated

For you to set up the switches to start the car, you would need to have the key already inserted into the ignition(tumbler). Since that is damaged, you will need to get another one from either the scrap/partout/dealer. When you do get the other one, you'll need to have the key portion programmed to your ecu as they are chipped. I'm not sure if a autozone or car parts place can reprogram the key to match the old one in terms of signal.
You'll basically end up with one key for the door and one for the ignition.
