2005 Civic no communication with ECU
I was driving home from work a couple days ago and all of a sudden my car bogged way down and almost felt like a belt broke. Check engine light came on immediately and car went into limp mode. After getting the car back to the house for diagnosis, I realized I wasn't able to establish connection with the ECU from the OBD port. Thinking it was just my scanner, I called up a buddy to bring his high end scanner and try it. Same thing, no communication with ECU. I have checked all fuses and nothing is blown. I have also checked my alternator bolts and all are still good and tight. 2 days before this happened, the hose on my transmission return line blew off because someone didn't reinstall a clamp after a repair. I have tried everything I know to do and was wondering if someone had some other steps for me to try before purchasing a new ECU. Could this be a sensor causing a short? My belt was squeaking right before it happened and noticed it seemed to be coming from the A/C compressor. If the compressor has a short could this cause something like this to happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am stuck and this is my daily driver. The car will start and run, but seems to be very rich. I've check the timing belt and everything seems to be fine.
