Ok so I bought a wrecked 98 civic with the d16y8 obd2a going to rob the head for my 2000 civic obd2b got it on there ran in to the distributor issue what else should I expect???

 

Why can't you use the distributor from the 00 Civic?
Is the Y8 head being installed in an 00 Civic CX, DX, HX, or EX?
What engine and ECU is currently installed in the 00 Civic?

 

What distributor issue? You're just swapping heads.

 

When I bought the car it didnt have anything but the stripped head and the head gasket was blown so I just threw my head on it that had the intake manifold and distributor. The car is a ex and it still has the stock ecu. The head is off of a 98 civic ex which if I'm correct is obd2a. The 00 is obd2b the issue is the plug not matching up so I know I have to wire in the plug off of the 98 ex. I found the diagram to do so. I was just curious if there would be anything else I would run into so I can hopefully have it going tomorrow to have a way back and forth to collage my ef blew up a few days ago.

 

Ok wired in the old distributor plug on the obd2b harness she is running and reall down and dirt nasty it's a 2000 civic coupe ex hastings rings hastings bearing upgraded wrist pins and PC p29 pistons with a compression ratio of 12.5:1 the only issue is its surging and I'm clueless ik it's the iac valve but dont know how to convert it

 

Ok I figured out that I have to re wire my 2000 iac plug to fit the one on the 98 head anyone have a pinout.

 

Clean the IACV.

 

The plug doesn't match lol
