Default Denso 2840 Radiator Identification

wondering if someone could help me out identifying

this radiator as I cannot find it anywhere. I see a bunch of half-size aluminum ones but none that are painted black. Any help would be appreciated.

I've never seen a stock radiator painted black from the factory. Either it's NOS (new old stock) or Chinese knockoff.

I am skeptical here on this radiator. First the part number doesn’t seem to exist. The white letters are inconsistent with any radiators I have. They have more of spotted paint than the bold thick font in the above example. I also agree with the above statement they shouldn’t be painted. I also don’t recall these radiators being available as an assembly with the fan . The decal is an old decal and seems to lack country of origin. I am guessing maybe it’s a rebuilt radiator with a replacement fan based on the mid tank still retaining the Honda stamp . The rebuilder may have created his own part numbers. The right corner seems bulgy on the tank compared to my examples on a further note.

Thank you for the information, I found this with a bunch of other OEM parts that had the same labels and such. Do you happen to know what model it might be for based on the looks? Best I could find was similar to a 94 Integra

Thank you for your help and information on this. This is another one I have that has the same type label, but on this one they numbers seem to match.

That's definitely a knock-off, especially the radiator cap. The "ND" stamp is not refined...along with the decal. Here is a Genuine Honda cap. Notice the writing in German is only one line....

OP, if you aren't planning to boost the engine, a replacement one from your local auto parts store should be fine.

Are you sure it might not just be an old OEM cap? I dont understand why someone would go out of their way to do all this since it seems like there would not be too much money to be made. Thank you for your help and information!

I suppose that you are correct about the cap being a knockoff, the only other ones I found are questionable like "OEM authentic" from Amazon....we know how authentic it would be from there.

There are countless "OEM" style caps out there. You just have to make sure it's actually a genuine one from Honda/Denso. It may not seem much but the cheap knockoff caps do not hold pressure and will cause heating issues. If you want a good radiator cap, go with one from Stant. They have the "racing" version and it holds higher pressure than most others. That's what I'm currently using in mine...

This looks to be the older copper core denso used on a 92-95 Civic with a d-series (single core) and automatic transmission. The glossy black paint and markings match perfectly to the OEM denso I bought a few years ago for my CRX (straight from the dealer). You can tell it's copper by the weight and looking between the fins and seeing the brown color inside. In 96 Honda switched to aluminum cores on these half radiators.

The really interesting part about this one is that it includes a fan and shroud. Probably why the part number is unique and doesn't show up anywhere.
