Default Third gen prelude seats in EF Hatchback

Figured I'd share some pics. I put 88-91 Prelude seats in my Hatch. They're just a little darker blue than my Hatch interior, but they match up pretty good. It's amazing how much better quality the prelude seat material is over the hatch seats.

At first I was thinking/hoping I could do a seat pan swap, but the seats are so different that doing so would not have worked. So I unbolted the rails from both the hatch and prelude seats, drilled new holes in the prelude pans, and bolted the Hatch rails to the Prelude seat pans. In retrospect, I should have taken some pics of this process, but didnt think to do so.

Only bummer is I might have to lose the center armrest. The prelude driver seat has a side bolster adjustment ****, and the passenger seat has a fold forward ****; both of which interfere with the armrest. We'll see, I might just eliminate the fold forward function from the passenger seat, and see if I could gain some clearance on the driver seat by boring out the slider holes a bit and move the seat more towards the door. I might only get a 1/4 inch or so, but that should be all I need.

thanks for sharing.

yeah the clearance to the center console isnt great. could you have moved it away? is there room before hitting the door panels?

the seat and steering wheel isnt even centered from stock configuration anyway, so not like that matters.

I do have plenty of clearance between the seats and door panels; unfortunately however if I were to try to move them closer in that direction, I run out of room on the prelude seat pan to mount the rails (I would have to get creative and weld an extension bracket to the side of the seat pan that I could then mount the rail on to get more side to side clearance, currently the rail is set on the pan at the outer-most edge).

I have a pair too sitting in storage I want to get fitted into a sedan. They look meh to be honest theyer borderline ugly and theyer not light lol but the adjustable bolster is cool and I think they have heating pads inside for seat warming action if I remember correctly. Props on beating me to it. If you decide to keep them in you should find a muffler shop that can weld the ef seat rails to the seats. If you have the prelude seat rails that’s better the “shop” can cut what they need off it and weld it to the ef rails. A muffler shop near me welded my sparco to Cb7 rails.

Seem like 2 different driver's seats as the passenger fold lever should be on the outside. Can you swap the upper parts of the seats with each other?

Looking at other same year Prelude seats, they do have the folding latch on the inside. Very odd to have to reach all the way in the car to fold the seat down. Generally the lumbar support is on the inside while the folding mech is on the outside.

The passenger seat also has a fold forward lever in the normal lower-right seat bottom spot (see my second pic, it shows the "traditional" lever); the secondary lever's original intent was to allow a rear passenger egress, without them having to reach up and between the seat and door panel (which in a prelude leaves little to no room).

I never heard it called the "pervert level", but that's hilarious that that's what it's now known as.

And to think that the 3rd gen was a fairly roomy back seat compared to most.

I'm personally more fond of the 4G seats, but seeing those is making me hope I find a tidy 3G in a yard someday. Those look really nice in an ED.
