1999 Civic Si oil pan interchange queston
1999 Civic Si w/B16A2 has screwed up the cam journals and has some scoring on the crankshaft. Are the oil pans interchangeable with a B18C1? The reason I ask is because this B16A2 pan has the turbo drain setup in it already. I read in one place that a 2000 si pan fit a B18C1, but I am not super familiar with a lot of this B-series interchangeability stuff.
It is the other way around... the B18C1/5 pan WILL fit on the B16A, B18A/B and B20B/Z engines, but the B16A pan WILL NOT fit on the B18C1/5 because the latter windage tray is too tall to fit inside the shallow end of the B16A pan... if you compare the two side by side, you will see that the B18C1/5 pan is deeper on the shallow end of the pan.
Thanks, I figured it would be an issue of clearance with the girdle. So, the B18C1/5 pans will fit anything, but not anything else will fit them?
Correct. B18C1/5 pans fit ALL modern "B" series engines in their stock form, but any "B" series using a stock or aftermarket main girdle MUST use a B18C1/5 pan. All other modern "B" series oil pans are too shallow to clear the main girdle and windage tray.
