Default 94 Civic power steering

So in a matter of a couple weeks my steering has gone from decent to god awful, the car pulls whichever way it feels like and it's super sketchy on the interstate, I'm starting to think my PS rack is going out on me.
I still need to check my tie rods but If it is the rack that's going bad would taking off the power steering belt maybe stiff up the unstable steering any at all?
After the holidays I just don't have the money to put into it for a new rack (if that is the problem) and I have to drive the car 40 interstate miles a day on my work commute.

This^ fits more with front suspension problems or low uneven tire pressure in the front wheels.

I've checked for play in the steering recently because I have a wheel bearing that isn't doing so good (not completely shot but it's getting there) but I don't think that would cause this seemingly sudden instability in the steering, I had little to no play in the front wheels, my balljoints and tie rod ends seemed to be okay, that's why I have the feeling it's the steering rack. Going to check everything again tomorrow, it's raining heavily today where I'm at.

So I talked to the previous owner of the car who's a friend of mine asking if he's ever messed with the tie rods or anything before, and he said that the power steering has leaked for quite some time (I knew this already) but he said he'd been putting brake fluid in the power steering reservoir, so I'm sure a good portion of the fluid in the system is indeed brake fluid by now, I'm gonna flush the system out asap.

My question now is would that attribute to the rack going out? And is it too late to save it?

The easiest way to fix a leaking power steering rack is to replace it. Brake fluid is clearly not an acceptable replacement for power steering fluid.

However, a leaking power steering rack would not cause the drifting problems described in your thread.

Start by checking the front tire pressures. Next have a shop check the front struts/shocks and suspension.

I know the leak isn't causing the problems above but would the brake fluid cause the rack to go bad?

The leak alone is sufficient to make the diagnosis of a bad rack.
