2000 Accord Sunroof Leak
Hello, my sunroof leaks. I had about 2 inches of water in the passenger side floor after the last rain. I am trying to pull up the carpet in order to dry it out. How does the rear seat come out so I can get the rear carpet up? Thank you from NJ.
Push down near the center of the seat, check p or d side near the buckles. You will see a single 10mm headed bolt. Remove that bolt. Pull up the back and the front should release.
If the factory moonroof is leaking, then the drains may be backed up plugged up.
The sunroof itself is not 100% water tight seal. So don't start applying any glues or goos to the rubber seal to 'fix' the leak.
Also verify the sunroof is closing properly. Even with working drains if the sunroof is not fully closed, a downpour can flood working drains.
On the front drains, pull off the kick-panels. You should see the drain tube coming from down the A-pillar into a drain valve that passes through the sheetmetal of the kick panel. Give it a gentle massage, if it feels crunchy its probably full of crud. On the rear the drains are located behind the side trunk panels. Pull the side pockets and side panels out to gain access.
With the water drained, you can stick a small wire up the tube to check for any other obstructions.
Don't yank or force anything, you can push the tube off the tray and will have to disassemble the interior to reattach.
