Default Painting my Si rims

Hey guys, I bought an extra set of 92 Si rims that are in decent shape. I want to paint them gunmetal gray. I was wondering what I need to do to prepare the rims to be painted and what kind of paint should I use??

Friend of mine used high temp. engine paint on his GSR rims, and there haven't been any chips or anything and they've been on his civic for about 2 months now. He used 2-3 layers of paint plus 2 layers of clear coat

Is there any particular type of spray clearcoat I should get. Ine time I bought some and when I sprayed it on...it came out all rough.
I don't want to spend a lot on this car.
This is technically my "beater" car so I want to dress it up at minimal cost. The car has costed me more to get it on the road than what I was expectin. already.
