I would use an adapter fitting at the stock oil pressure sensor. That location at the cam seal may not provide enough oil for the turbo

I would be concerned using that port since it’s at the vtec solenoid, I always use the oil pressure sensor port

I personally know someone who used that same port by the VS....and destroyed 2 brand new turbos before he realized that was the issue. I mentioned that he needed to re-route it to the oil pressure sensor but he didn't "feel like it". lol

If you use the golden eagle mfg oil filter plate it sends filtered oil to the turbo.

haha...yeah, I kept mentioning that the oil feed may be the culprit. Funny thing is that it was fine for the smaller Turbonetics turbo he originally had on there. Just enough oil droplets I guess to lubricate the CHRA.

He finally tested it by removing the oil feed line from the turbo and put the end fitting into a plastic container. Turned on the engine and barely enough oil was coming out of the line at idle. I'm assuming there will be oil there once the solenoid is activated......like 4000rpm+.

You cannot use the VTEC test port on the front of the cylinder head... almost no oil volume is found at this location UNTIL VTEC engages.

You're making it harder than it really is. All you need is a longer 3AN oil feed line, plug for the VTEC solenoid tap and an adapter fitting for the rear......

I think they only swear by it because either A) they never expected their turbo ro last that long anyway, or B) they didn't see their turbo smoke immediately from oil starvation, so it must be good!!

a year is peanuts. and i can only gather that because its an ebay turbo.. expectations can't be that high.

ok I'm gonna run the line at the back and use a 2mm restrictor

DO NOT put the restrictor at the back of the block. the fitting (not flange) need to be at the turbocharger inlet.

2mm is quite large and you may flood the system. what turbocharger specifically are you using again? what is your standard oil pressure?

No I wudnt put the restrictor at the back of the block, it's a T3 t4 to4e turbo, maxspeedingrods brand, my oil psi is 60 on cold start 80 on Rev and 30 at warm idle, I thought journal bearing turbos used a. 065 restrictor

Yeah I believe it was option B with my cousin's initial setup. Like I mentioned before, he insisted on keeping the oil feed there until it was too late and costly...

You're correct. But the restrictor size is dependent upon the turbocharger manufacturer. So, a Maxspeedrods journal bearing may use something smaller or larger, hard to say. . But 2mm is not equivalent to .065". It's equivalent to .080", which is slightly larger. I honestly don't think that's a bad thing, because we don't know how well the tolerances of the thrust bearings and collar are.so, you're just going to have to try to see if that's the case. I'm quite sure Maxspeedrods won't tell you anything.
