I got a D16Y8 EJ8 civic and im wondering whether or not i can through an intercooler on it without a turbo for extra power and coolin, im 17 and dont know much about it so if i can get some feedback id be appreciated, also where would the pipin on the drivers side connect to because i know the passenger side piping connects to the intake manifold/throttle body???

 

Negative.

Aftercoolers/Intercoolers work because compressing of air makes it hot.

Best you can do is get intake air from outside of the engine bay where it is ambient temperature. Factory air boxes are typically very good at this.

I was going to mention this product... they called it the "FMIS". That is Front Mount Intake System. LOL No noticeable increase in power OP... it just looks like an intercooler and will dramatically increase your chances of hydro-locking the engine from water ingestion.

Best option IMO is CT Engineering icebox.

PFI speed tuned an all motor intercooled car. Lost a tremendous amount of power. (He didn’t know that the intercooler was connected) once they took off the coupler they gained something like 40whp.

 

Who...the owner or PFI (Brent)? Likely it's the owner who clearly doesn't work on his own car.
