1990 honda accord front end help after collision
Hey everyone first off merry christmas everyone!! So today I decided to try and put a bumper I got off a 92 at the junk yard, on my 90 honda accord which looked good and everything. Today I tried to put it on and it sort of fit ok but I could atleast bolt it up I tried to put my blinkers in and they wouldn't even fit close they're too big and the one I just got off amazon has the right connector but the housing around it is to small for the connector on the harness so I have to return that as well, for the bumper I guess I have to sell on my own.. how do i know what bumper will fit my car and my blinkers I thought most of the bumpers were standard on 90-93 accord's, any help on a good source for these parts. Or which ones are actually interchangable
Early bumper has an open grille design below the actual bumper, and the later models kind of have a stepped trim with a painted bar that goes across to make the car more aero looking.
Early bumpers have brick sized front parking/indicator lamps, later models have a thinner slit of a lense.
Lamps holders that come with the aftermarket lamps tend to be a bit crappy and ill fitting. Change out your original holders in the new housings.
Yeah I may either return the turn signal lamp, or try to modify it, unfortunately my turn signal was obliterated everything but the wiring. thank God so I just have to figure it out. I should have figured this out before buying a bumper, and everything else haha, sucks when you think most things are interchangable and when you buy it, it says it will fit then it doesn't haha. Cons of buying on the internet I guess. Thanks for your reply!!
Yeah, ive been debating that, if the turn signals were with the dang bumper I probably would've snatched the one and realized and got both, but they were taken, I'm thinking of just modifiying the connector on the after market turn signal I got. I was also wondering if there was anything else that was different between The two, is the hood the same as well? The only other thing I really need and not really, because its just dented.
The differences between the 90/91 and 92/93 front ends are the headlights+corner lights, grille, and bumper, and it all kind of centers around the design of the grille - the fenders and hood are the same, and the bumper lights are of course bumper-specific. The 92/93's grille is shorter vertically, and so there's a slight lip in the middle section of the 92/93 bumper to fill in the gap that would be along the bottom of the grille - your 90/91 grill is going to be too tall for that, because the 90/91 bumper is flat along the top edge. The difference in the headlights is in the contour of the glass: you'll notice that your 90/91 grill is basically flat-faced, and the curve in the headlight glass (as well as the corner light plastic further out) is higher up (matching the top edge of the grille) so that the mating surfaces match. The 92/93 grille isn't flat-faced; it has a curve roughly in the middle, and so the curve in the 92/93 headlights is lower down in the glass to match up with that. You need ALL 90/91 parts, or ALL 92/93 parts, or it's going to look off somewhere. It's a good time to modernize your front end with a 92/93 setup, if you care about that sort of thing!
It's hard finding images on the web that zoom in on a stock grille, so this is the best I could come up with. You'll have to look real close to see the differences. In these photos, the easiest giveaway of where the curve in the glass is is to look at where the headlight and corner light meet up.

This guy's got a 92/93 bumper matched up with 90/91 grille and headlights, and you can see how the bottom edge of the grille is forced behind the slight lip in the middle of the bumper:

Something to consider if you're ever interested in tracking down one-piece JDM headlights: decide on the overall front end you want before picking which year of headlight to spend $300+ on.

Thank you so much for posting this information! This is great help for sure, now I know I can go pick up the 92 hood from the yard, just replaced driver fender. That's why I asked because it just seems big and when I closed the hood it sits way below the fender line, but the hood is slightly damaged, but it still just doesn't feel right, unfortunately I won't know until I actually get the hood. Thanks again and happy new years!!

Was your radiator support damaged in the accident? If that's tweaked, or if a new one wasn't welded in 100% accurately, it'll cause all sorts of problems with panel alignment.
Not to bad actually but the last bolt that goes to the fender right at the support is bent slightly down, but not tweeked or anything and the two headlight bolts that go to the top and everything else is straight.
