EF Hatch B18B with cable trans new clutch stopped working/bad transmission??
I have an EF hatch with a B18B swap and a cable trans (not sure what trans and would appreciate any info on how to find out). The day after buying the car, the clutch wouldn’t engage and the fork wouldn’t move. I replaced the clutch fork, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, flywheel, and put in competition stage 2 clutch. It looked like the clutch plate had cemented itself to the pressure plate somehow. After that I did lots of suspension and alignment fixes and finally was on the road. The clutch has not given me any problems for over a month until yesterday when I experienced a similar feeling of the car refusing to go into gear with the car turned on. (It will go into every gear with the car off.) I am new to Honda and am looking for any ideas as to what this could be. The clutch fork looks to still have movement, the cable doesn’t seem to have changed either but I will adjust it tomorrow.
stage 2 clutch means heavy clutch
and that leads me to think that someones clutch pedal is bending
and when its bending is giving the cable too much slack and thats why the gears arnt kicking in like they should
its just a guess
a way for you to check is to get under your dash and take a look at the clutch pedal assembly and see how it looks
and hay your from Maryland ^_^

Update: Looks like the cable had stretched a little which caused the clutch to not fully engage. My clutch is extremely heavy and is hard to depress by hand to adjust. Any suggestions on how to depress the clutch to adjust the cable? I can send photos if needed.
Thanks!
Thanks!
The pedal cluster is probably bending/cracked. This is common, and a heavy clutch only makes it worse. It's hard to see where the problem is without pulling the pedal cluster out of the car. I'd recommend pulling the cluster and having it reinforced/welded or replace it with a known good one if you are constantly having to adjust the clutch cable.
i just got this problem fixed in my build thread
i put up lots of pictures of the progress if youd like to take a look
Marcos new work car 90 sedan
but before you go undoing your pedal assembly
try making your adjustment first
what i do it is easy
pop the hood
with one hand ill pull up hard on the trans shifter arm
and then with the other ill start turning plastic adjustment nut it only turns a 1/4 turn at a time but it works
try that first and then let me know how it goes
and if it works then great ^_^
but if after a few days if the shifting gets hard again
then sadly its a sure sign that the assembly is bending

Update: Pedal assembly snapped. It is being reinforced and a new cable is being installed. The stage 2 clutch is putting a lot of tension on the pedal assembly for sure. The new plan is (when I have the funds) to replace pedal cluster and cable with hydrolic components. Thanks to everyone watching this thread and helping! Does anyone have recommendations on which pedal clusters are good? I saw OBP for overhung pedals that seemed nice.
