Icon5 D16z6 With P29 pistons, Do i Really need a tune?

Guys If i'm just running p29 pistons on a d16z6 block with I/H/E Do i really need a tune? Compression is ahmmm i think at about 12:1 from my researches, Some do get a tune and some don't, but i would really like to hear from 1st hand experience.

Do you have upgraded fuel pump, injectors, intake manifold, better flowing header, chipped ECU etc? If not.... N O

As stated above, pistons of course headers/ cold air/ exhaust, no pump, no injectors, still bumps up the compression ratio to 12:1. So stock ecu is fine, is what your saying? Anyone else want to comment. Thanks NVturbo

You have changed from 9.2:1 up to over 12:1... OF COURSE YOU NEED A TUNE !!! Your ECU has no idea that you have changed your pistons... or your header, intake or exhaust system.

Fair enough, can I get away with a chipped ecu? In other words have someone burn me a map that will work?

If you mean customizing the fuel and ignition instructions on a DYNO to make sure that these values are appropriate for your engine combination... then yes. If you mean telling some remote chip burner/tuner what parts you have and they send you a one-shot "custom" tune... then NO. That is called a "basemap", not a custom tune.

Essentially, your engine needs to be on a dyno.
