Oil tube dipstick o-ring question
So I installed a new o-ring on the oil tube (dipstick), and now the tube is raised too high to bolt back onto the alternator bracket. The lip on the tube is not flush with where it mounts on the engine. Was I supposed to stretch the oring around where the oil tube expands under the lip? I'm sorry, it's hard to explain, but hopefully if you've changed out these orings, you know what I'm talking about. Just need advice to get it level. Yes, it's the correct part straight from Honda. Thanks!
I couldn't find anything on the correct way, so I ended up stretching the oring over the wider part of the tube under the lip, then matching the tab as closely as I could to the bracket. It was still off probably about an 1/8". So I moved the tube away, got the bolt started, and basically forced the tab in by turning the bolt. I don't know if this is going to be a good seal or not, but all I can do for now.
