Default Skunk2 upper control arms...loose steering

Today I installed some new Skunk2 upper control arms, and even though they are on the budget side, I figured since it was Skunk2 they would be good. Plus their reviews were good.

I installed them today, and after I found the steering to be super loose. The ball joints are just as stiff as the stock ones I replaced. The car isnt unstable at highway speeds, but when I hit a bump the steering wheel fights me a bit, and when I move from a stop there is a click that comes from the front passenger side as I turn the wheel. Sway bars are all good, and I've heard it could be an alignment issue but I didn't think that just a bad alignment could cause such a change in steering feel. Any help would be great.

what model year/trim?

has it been aligned since install? is the car lowered? how much?

i think it is possible to put them on "backwards" swapped left to right. did you confirm that you have them in the right locations? OE upper control arms are stamped for correct orientation (either an arrow to the front of the vehicle or a left/right indication) Skunk2 should as well.

incorrect or miss-adjusted front alignment/geometry can definitely have these effects on the steering.
