Default Mainshaft Thrust Measurement: NRH3

I'm rebuilding an NRH3 from my 04 EP3 and adding an Mfactory 1.5 LSD. I followed the directions here: https://www.clubrsx.com/threads/diy-...stment.638721/ and came up with a final measurement of needing a 1.53 mm shim. I installed the shim, torqued the transmission to clutch case bolts to the proper torque and measured my thrust clearance with the honda mainshaft tool. I made sure that the mainshaft bearing was seated in the case before I took the measurement. I swapped out the 1.53 mm shim with a 1.26 mm shim I had laying around and was able to just get .10 mm of thrust clearance. Any tips on what I might have done wrong measuring the first time around? I'm wondering if the method linked is somehow missing taking the oil plate thickness into account, but regardless that's .66 mm thick so I would think I would have been further off than the .27 mm between the 1.53 mm shim and the 1.26 mm shim I swapped it out with. I really just want to learn for next time and make sure I'm not missing anything now so I don't order the wrong shims again or have an issue down the road once I install it.
