Hey gang. I'm in need of some help. I just bought an 05 Civic sedan for a beater/sleeper car project. The cluster gauge luminescent background lights aren't working. The gauges/meters are but not the lights. I checked the bulbs and the fuses but don't want to go any further just incase I cause more damage. Does anyone know what I should do? I don't want to see the mechanic either incase they decide to charge a lot for a small repair.

If it has an aftermarket stereo unit and the illumination circuit has been connected, then you can get this problem. Does it have the OEM stereo? If not, disconnect the illumination circuit from the back of the head unit.

 

Check cluster circuit board for any burn marks or traces, also check for any cracks. I had this problem a couple days ago.
