Being a new member to the Prelude owners group, I didn’t realize that finding a 4 gen cup holder is like hunting for hens teeth. 🤯 Not to mention that if you find one, the lid is either broken or missing. I have a friend who has a cup holder with a broken lid. The broken off part is missing. He is letting me borrow it to see if I can make molds of the pieces and cast them in black resin. I have done this with other parts with great results. The resin is very tough. I am a former Honda design and manufacturing engineer so I have some experience to bring to bear on this. While I can work with the broken lid to come up with a complete piece, it would be much easier to do it with a complete one. If anyone has a complete lid (or a broken one with with all of the pieces) that I could borrow for a short time to mold it, that would be great. I would pay for the shipping each way and send one of the newly cast lids back as well. I will update this post as things progress. Please give me your thoughts about this project. Thanks

 

what's broken on the lid?

 

The lid is basically broken in half from left to right. But only about one third of the lid is left. It is intact on the pivot end. While I could fabricate the rest of the lid in order to make a mold, it will be hard to duplicate the texture and small details without a complete lid. I want to be able to get the detail of the raised “PUSH” at the front edge of the lid. 😉👍
