Default Question about Axles and Axle seals.

Hey guys, I got that clicking noise on the passenger side of my '97 DX. Also, i notice oil spots when I park the car coming from right above the axle so that leads me to believe the seal is going bad as well.

My question is this, I'm going to replace both the driver and passenger side axles, does the driver side have a seal i should replace as well? And is part #15 correct below?

Yes, Part #15 in the diagram is the passenger axle seal. Yes, replace the driver's seal while you're at it. Be careful to not damage the new seals when installing them.

Thanks for the info. Is the driver's seal the same one as the passenger? Or are there two different ones?

Edit - is the driver side one #6 in this diagram?

Yep, #6 in that diagram. Different part numbers.

Yes make sure you get the right seals. They are not the same size. The inner diameter of the seal is the same but one side has a larger outer diameter

Order oem ones, the aftermarket ones sometimes lack the dust sleeve on them to prevent debris from flying up into the gap between the cv axle and trans
