Default Honda Accord 98- P1706 , P0705

Hi, I own a 98 Honda Accord 2 door that just popped up with the check engine light and is displaying 2 codes; P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (2-Posi) and P1706 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Range (No-Posi). I’ve tried searching each of these codes individually and together and am unable to figure out what is exactly wrong with my car! Any help would be appreciated and I am able to provide pictures if asked!

Welcome to the forum. I don't see many Automatic transmission issues myself so I won't be much help, however, you posted your issue in the "Civic" sub-forum instead of the Accord sub-forum... I suggest you request that a MOD move it to the proper sub-forum to reach those that may be able to help you best. Good luck.

P1705. Transmission Range Switch short to ground.
P1706. Transmission Range Switch open. *D4 does not light*

Possibly damage to the range switch(located externally on the transmission) or the wire harness to the switch.
This can happen if the vehicle was partially submerged, was in an accident, or if there was recent work done.

Which engine does your car have? 2.3 or 3.0?
The diagnostics are similar but there are differences between the two that would make repair easier.
If there are other codes that are not transmission related, have those fixed first.
