2017 Accord Sport Rims
i am Rhode Island native who had bought a 2017 Honda Accord with the 19" sport rims package from Saccucci Honda of Middletown, Rhode Island. The vehicle currently only has 28,000 miles on it, never been in an accident or anything along those lines(still under all factory warranties). I have ran into an issue with the wheels making a rubbing metal noise. Just to give you an idea, it is very similar to if you were to need new wheel bearings. Upon hearing the noise, I brought it into my dealer where I purchased it and they had never heard of the issue before. As any professional mechanic would do, they first checked to see if everything was mechanically sound. Because they had never heard of this issue before, they let me drive a different vehicle with the same options, them and I noticed that the issue was happening with this vehicle as well. On record I have over 8 different documented appointments all associated with this issue. They tried only a few things, such as resealing the rims, changing the weights on the inside of the tire, and even something as simple as inflating and deflating the tires. Finally, they switched out the current tires which were Continental and replaced them with Michelin. This seemed to erase the issue for a couple of months, but here I am again with the same exact issue. The dealer is denying responsibility for the issue and making me contact Honda directly. Honda is also giving me backlash because they claim that this may not be covered under warranty. The only thing that my dealer is offering is an unknown discount on a new set of rims. They are making the consumer, who purchased the vehicle brand new to sattle up more cash to fix an issue that should be handled internally. I personally believe that this is a design issue that should be handle by corporate not by a consumer who just wants a vehicle with years and years of life left to do what its supposed to. I am confident that if more Accord owners were made aware of this issue, that they would hear it to. I recently filed a claim with Honda Customer Relations and they denied my claim stating it is a “characteristic” of the vehicle and that I had every opportunity to hear the noise before I purchased the vehicle(a problem that didn’t exist?). So basically they told me it was my fault that I bought a vehicle with a noise that was not to my liking. I would advise everyone not to buy this vehicle with this rim package. It is an unfixable solution that no one is taking responsibility for, they are allowing customers to spend 30k and be blinded buy an issue that is unfixable unless the consumer spends thousands on a different set of rims/tires.
I am experiencing the same issue with my 2017 Sport SE while turning left. A loud squealing noise but goes away while driving straight. I have checked all the brakes and rotors. I have made sure the shield is not rubbing the rotors and all look fine.
The more I research the more I am convinced it is the tires as you have stated above. This is super disappointing and I really enjoy this car until now. I will also make a formal complaint with HONDA to help drive them toward doing the right thing or at least changing future designs for their rims. I plan on rotating the tires and seeing if that helps. Also i'll confirm the tires have adequate inflations pressure. More to come.

I wish you the best of luck and would love to hear what they say to a different individual. I have tirelessly tried to make my point and they have refused to do anything for me! I too love this vehicle, its V6 with great power and handling and its a car I see myself driving for years and years. I have finally decided to buy a rim package so that I can enjoy this vehicle the way it was designed to be enjoyed. Its unfortunate that it had to come to this point!
I am a resident of Northern California and own a 2017 Accord touring with the manufacturer continental tires. I bought it used in August 2020. I heard the exact same noise, at low speeds, with the drivers window down, an almost grinding sound from the drivers side front tire. It sounds like the bearings are going bad. Braking or turning does not effect the sound. As I reach higher speeds, the wind noise prevents me from hearing the grinding sound. As soon as I slow down again, I can hear it. The sound is only the drivers side front tire. I can’t hear it in the passenger cabin with the window up.
In October 2020, I took the car in which resulted in the dealership replacing the drivers front tire. The noise disappeared for about 3-4 weeks. Today is January 26, 2021 and I just returned from my appointment at the dealership again for the same issue. I specifically waited to speak with the maintenance manager and he immediately knew what my complaint was. I took him to my car and made sure he heard the noise to insure we were discussing the same issue. He changed the rims and tires on his wife’s 2017 Accord sport for the same issue. He recommended (and applied) a silicon lubricant to the bead of the tire in the parking lot. That was not immediately successful but he said that has been successful when applied to the inside and outside tire bead in the past. They were willing to change the tire, at my expense this time, since it’s not a defective tire or rim.
Honestly, I didn’t believe the manager and told him I was not satisfied with his response of not being able to fix the issue. He seemed very confident that the issue was the continental tire under the motor weight on that side causing a ‘rubbing’ or ‘grinding’ sound against the rim. Different tire manufactures do not cause the same issue. I told him that his reasoning for the sound was not believable and I would check online forums for more information. He related they have replaced many tires for accord customers but it’s not a defective tire or rim, it is the continental tire being used.
Now I know, I’m not the only person with this issue.

Can confirm/reaffirm it is the pairing of those wheels with the OEM Contis. I stayed on the stock tires until 75k, the noise got worse and worse over time. Immediately gone when I put on a set of Goodyears, although I'm sure they won't last nearly as long.
Thanks to the head mechanic at the Honda dealership!! He told me to use 3M silicone spray number 08877 (which he graciously provided to me) on the outside AND inside bead of the tire. I removed my front drivers side tire, liberally sprayed the silicon spray on the outside and inside then put the tire back on. Maybe 30 minutes total time since I sprayed the beads twice and let it sit between sprays. As I was told......the sound has disappeared. Thanks for the help!!!
i don’t know how long this temporary solution will last but since Honda corporate is not going to address this noise issue, I will use the silicone spray until I buy new tires. From this forum, it sounds like Goodyear is a good option.

I purchased a cherry pre-certifed 2017 touring sedan(12K miles) from a Central Florida Honda Dealership in April on the internet.
Had it shipped to Memphis. My first Honda. I really like this car.
The noise appeared after 1500 miles. The local honda auto nation mechanic said it was the tires. To me it sounds like metal grinding.
I'm going to try the silicone and see what happens.
Is there any chance the rims might be out of round What is going to wear out from this continuous noise?
I may sell the car. It's not really depreciated much.
