. . . .Rear Strut Tower bars. . . .
Is there a noticeable difference of a rear strut tower bar for 15 bucks off ebay, or a 275 mugen one? Is it worth the extra 250 bucks to get the mugen name on it? what are your guys opinions.
Let me say this, you get what you pay for. If you buy some thing off EBAY for $49.99. It will be just for looks. Under hard cornering, "the cheapies" will bend very easily will damage your car. I'm looking for front & rear for my car now. Go with Comptech or whatever the group here can recommend. Spend the money but beware of cheap knock offs
Try to find a bar that is rigid and won't flex under torque/twisting conditions. A bar with the least amount of joints/welds is the best bar.
I like the Benen bar the best. I currently have the Neuspeed bar , but will eventually replace it with the Benen piece.
Don't get a cheap bar. IMHO a cheap bar is worthless in your car. The money is better kept in your wallet until you can afford a worthwhile piece. And, If a person who knows about cars sees your cheap OBX bar, you might be placed in the ricer hall of shame...

Ebay is a double edged sword...
Has deals on great products...
and know haven for the Ricer accessories...
Your car is a Sweet Ride or Ricer's fantasy... you decide
Yep, that's right you get what you pay for. But at the same time you don't really have to kick down the $275 for the Mugen to get a reliable tower bar. I agree with the other poster, Neuspeed's a good way to go for a good price.

it's only a strut brace... i think the difference would be difficult to quantify between a $100 bar and a $400 bar (lap times etc)...
Strut tower bars are almost completely useless and the money is better spent elsewhere. If you are racing the car or autocrossing it you *may* notice a difference then but any gains you see on the street are purely psychological.
For the record - a cheap bar does as much as a good bar.

IMHO, the weakest link lies in the 4 bolts on top of strut tower.
Under extreme situations those bolts will be snap first.

I agree with this statement.

That's why I said the Neuspeed bar kicks ***, because it mounts to those 4 bolts.

I would think a rear STB would make more of a difference if you have upgraded your swaybar, since the larger stiffer sway bar will put more stress on the subframe than the original one did. That's probably why the ITR also comes with a lower tie bar as stock, and the J-spec ITR's also have a rear STB as stock.

This is the point that most people fail to look at. They ask someone with a complete suspension whether or not the bars make a difference. Invariably the answer is "yes" so they go and blow their money on them. What they don't realize is that unless you are running a full suspension with high rate springs and heavy swaybars those strut bars are not going to do anything for you. Slapping them onto a car with a set of Eibach Prokits on the stock shocks is useless and money not well spent.
