SRS yellow connector near fuse box
Honda Ridgeline, 2013 model: How do I get the yellow SRS connector out of the socket ? I've tried to pinch the connector to get it to release from its socket, but that doesn't work. I think its called the MES connector that you can insert a jumper in to RESET the airbag light on the dash.
And, how can I determine what is causing the light in the first place? Is there a way to get the dash lights to flash a sequence code, then use the code to localize the problem component ? thanks

My 2013 Honda Ridgeline has the SRS light on and a message momentarily came on that said Side Aircurtain Off. It doesn't specify which side. How can I determine which one is the problem, and how do I locate the connector for the curtain.
And, where is the MES connector located in the Ridgeline so I can do the Reset of the light after the issue is fixed?
thank you
Correction: it was the Side Air Bag light that came on momentarily because no one was in the passengers seat at the time. It extinguishes after a few moments as this normal operation.

The SRS module has a self-diagnostic feature, if the problem(s) are fixed, it will no longer show trouble code(s) and warning indicator.
However, after a collision and/or if SRS components deployed, the deployed components and SRS module will have to be replaced. There would be no reset of the SRS module in cases of SRS component deployment.

tech8, thank you for the reply and clarification.
I don't have any component deployments and no crash or accident incident. I just got in the truck the other day and the light was on the dash. This seemed to occur after programming a non-functioning key-fob using the keyswitch on/off sequence. Can that be related?
I jumpered 4 and 9 on the OBD2 connector and watched the light sequence and I'm pretty sure the result was 3 long blinks and 6 short blinks.
I don't see a code of 3-6 in the tables with this number of blinks.
Any ideas of where to look for the problem ?
thank you.

Im fairly certain that is not a valid way to pull the correct SRS codes anymore. That procedure is not listed in ANY modern service information for Honda. (Its certainly not listed in the Ridgeline service information)
You need a scan tool capable of pulling SRS codes.

However I have the full $3000 version of this same tool and it is excellent,so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the above for a DIYer.
