Default Boostin again. z6 Greddy kit questions.

Hi all,

Been a while since i sold my boosted em1. I have a project del sol that i'm working on with a z6 engine and I just picked up a Greddy turbo kit for it.

I have a couple of questions for supporting mods since it's been a few years since I've done this.

Feed Line: Do i run a -3an feed for the TD04 turbo? Does it need a restrictor? Would using an oil filter sandwhich plate suffice to get this feed line?

Injectors: What injectors should I run? Ideally I am not looking for anymore than 200hp. Can I use an oem k-series injector?

Fuel pump: Walbro 255 used to be the standard but there are new options on the market today. What should I go with ? Deatschwerks?

Gauge pod: Does anyone make a gauge pod for the del sol chassis that is not an a-pillar style?

Wideband: Is AEM still the most affordable wideband out?

Boost/Oil gauges: I used ProSport gauges in my EM1 , any other recommendation in the same price range?

Thanks all. I'm sure i'll have more questions as I start to tackle the install and such

how old is that Greddy kit? I had a Greddy kit back in the 90’s on my EG and don’t remember it having a oil restrictor unless it was built into the fitting on the turbo ( could have been). I would advice calling Greddy to make sure.

Innovative and AEM both have decent wideband kits at a respectable price

I’ve always only used Autometer gauges ...... I’m not much help past that

‘I’m in love with my DW in tank pump. But my 250 Walbro lasted from 96 until 2019 and was still working when I took it out

i used a set or 450 injectors on my old setup

you will need some form of engine management such as Hondata or Neptune

Most GReddy kits that used a Mitsu turbocharger used a banjo fitting as part of the oil feed kit. they use a different thread pitch than your Garrett or equivalent turbocharger.

I'll check my mitsu files for the TD04 CHRA.

For gauge pod
you can look into The gauge pod that goes where stock radio is

cost 20 bucks shipped
3 gauge pod I got mines wideband. Boost. Oil pressure
it says 96-00 civic but it goes where stereo goes so I’m pretty positive this will work on a delsol too https://3dprinted.bigcartel.com/product/96-99-honda-civic-ek-all-radio-gauge-pod-plate

I have a couple of questions for supporting mods since it's been a few years since I've done this.

Feed Line: Do i run a -3an feed for the TD04 turbo? Yes Does it need a restrictor? Yes, assuming there isn't a restricted opening inside the inlet of the turbo. Would using an oil filter sandwhich plate suffice to get this feed line? Yes

Injectors: What injectors should I run? DW 420's. Ideally I am not looking for anymore than 200hp. Can I use an oem k-series injector? Not easily, not without modifying your fuel rail.

Fuel pump: Walbro 255 used to be the standard but there are new options on the market today. What should I go with ? Deatschwerks? Great choice. I also recommend their fuel injectors.

Gauge pod: Does anyone make a gauge pod for the del sol chassis that is not an a-pillar style? Years ago, you could get one that mounted over the instrument shade that looked like "frog eyes". Google it. This example is for an EG Civic. - 92-95 Honda Civic NRG Carbon Fiber Dash Gauge Pod CARB-F100

Wideband: Is AEM still the most affordable wideband out? Yes if quality is important... you can find cheaper but the quality goes down with the price.

Boost/Oil gauges: I used ProSport gauges in my EM1 , any other recommendation in the same price range? Autometer... I don't know anything about ProSport.

Thanks all. I'm sure i'll have more questions as I start to tackle the install and such

Feed line -- the fitting at the CHRA is different so you may need to source the correct one. -3AN is the ideal size feed line

Injectors -- 550cc should do the trick. There are plenty of new injectors to choose from

Fuel pump -- AEM 340lph is what I use. It's E85 compatible too

Gauge pod -- Shift glow makes one. You can mount the gauge inside the instrument cluster (where the clock is). A 2 1/16" gauge fits perfectly in there. Boost gauge is mounted there while the wideband gauge is in the driver's dash vent in my Del Sol.

Wideband -- AEM UEGO is the better choice for this gauge. Innovative seems to have issues from what I've read

Boost/oil gauges -- I've always had good experience with AutoMeter. As for ProSport…..NO.

I wouldn't even bother mounting it there. It's way too low to look at while driving.

Welcome back to the boosted world. Id get an aem digital wideband. Maybe the glow shift guage pod. If your gona use a sandwich plate, run only the golden eagle one. Those are filtered, and they dont leak like alot of the other ones.

A buddy of mine made a batch of these probably 10 years ago, I think I have one laying around if you're interested.

Hey guys, sorry for the late response, just getting back from vacation.

I'm very confused on injectors. There are ebay/amazon no name brands that are $80 for a set of four 550cc and RC 550s are almost $375.

Has anyone used Bosch? The below seems decently priced (about $200 for 4)

The 92-95 Greddy SOHC kits used the TD04H-15G which was set up as a banjo style feed originally. When replacing it can be converted to -3AN w/ a new CHRA fitting.

Agreed. I had several of those on both B-series and D-aeries back in early 2000s. They used a banjo style feed fitting like many factory turbo cars. the trick is to know the size and pitch of that inlet fitting. I no longer have a GReddy (Mitsubishi/Garrett hybrid) unit around me, but I'm sure the info is still there. I think it's still the same thread as the Evo 3 Mitsu 16G. That's the place to start

Correct. JetHot is just one company. When the materials are prepared properly, It can do a great job of not only protecting the metal from oxidation, but helps with heat dissipation in the engine bay and leaving the turbo looking great.

As for the fittings, you'll need to measure the thread and pitch. It's not an uncommon one, but you need to check using some measurement gauges. I'm sure it'll be in metric. Something tells me it's going to be an M12 or M14 x1.5 to a -4AN.

The first thing you'll want to do is get a new elbow made. They make donut mandrel bends for a really tight radius down pipe without a ton of pie cuts.

Ill check with my powdercoat guy if they have anything that high temp

As far as the feed line is concerned, where would the restrictor go here?

Absolutely not lmao

I wanted the greddy kit because of the fitment and ease of install. Ive done the whole fabricate a turbo setup from scratch deal and im not interested in doing that this time around, at all

It should be 7/16- 24 to xx AN (whichever size plan on running). I still have some of those.

That's an extremely involved piece to make if this car still has a/c. Making that bend and forming it to fit that T2 outlet is a real PITA. Those elbows have a lot of material in them that can be ported out to allow the turbo to flow better. It looks like that may have already been done on one end at least as that elbow from Greddy only had a 2.25" outlet and now looks like it's been opened w/ that vband added.
