Maintenance light won’t reset after all fluid replaced
Hello, I’m currently having issue with getting my maintenance light to reset. I have a 2001 Honda Civic Ex that I’ve been fixing up. I’ve gotten a lot done but for some reason I can’t get the maintenance light to reset. I have an my oil changed and with that all the fluids topped off. I’m about to get the brakes done here soon. Could it be the brake fluid? It’s the only fluid I have yet to top off/change.
Thank you for all the help!!

I don't think I have ever read about the Maintenance Required indicator not being able to get reset.
Anyway, here is the process to reset it in case you are doing it incorrectly:IMPORTANT: The headlights and parking lights must be off before attempting the MAINT REQ'D light reset procedure. If the lights are on, the MAINT REQ'D light will not reset. If your Civic is equipped with daytime running lights (DRL), the DRL must be disabled so the MAINT REQ'D light can be reset.

These are the steps:
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button in the Gauge Cluster.
- While holding the button down, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (but without cranking or starting the engine).
- Hold the SELECT/RESET button for about 10 seconds.
- After 10 seconds, the MAINT REQ'D light will reset and turn off.
Thank you I never would have thought of the DRL. I attempted it again after verifying it was off and the maintenance light still clicked right back on after being off for a few seconds.
Try this - "It was in odometer position. But, I again changed the cdometer position from odometer position to Trip A to Trip B and back to Odometer position and then repeated the process. This time it worked..."
Try leaving headlights off and repeating the process.
Sometimes the push button in the gauge cluster craps out and needs to be repaired in the back of the cluster - hope this isn't the case.
